WE ARE THE PHYSICS, purveyors of the completely fictional 'mutant science punk rock' hail from Glasgow, Scotland and formed in 2005 by mistake.
Originally known as WE ARE THE PHYSICS CLUB AND THEREFORE EVERYTHING WE SAY IS FACT, the spindly-legged quartet source from such bands as Polysics, Ex Models, Devo, Servotron, The Skids and Buddy Holly.
Known for their eccentric leg manoeuvres, bad eyesight and energetic, frenetic stage shows, their nerd-rock b-movie chic has become synonymous with indie outcasts and fashion rejects. Having once incited a moshpit during Club NME at London's Koko in an effort to watch indie haircuts collapse, the band have won fans in every scene from hardcore punks to pop princesses.
Since their conception, they have been gigging relentlessly across the world sharing stages and Haribo with Polysics, Art Brut, Franz Ferdinand, You Say Party! We Say Die! and 30 Seconds To Mars as well as playing major roles at UK and European festivals, including the NME/Radio 1 Stage at T In The Park.
They released two sold-out singles on the now defunct Glasgow label One Records in 2007 before signing to London label This Is Fake DIY in 2008 who released their debut LP, cheekily entitled 'WE ARE THE PHYSICS ARE OK AT MUSIC' in May, preceded by their biggest selling single 'You Can Do Athletics, btw' in April 2008, the video for which was recently nominated for a Scottish BAFTA award.
Possibly the only band in the history of bands to consist of three Michaels and a Chris, the Physics have since brought their brand of spaz-rock to Moscow and Finland (where they found fans by playing death metal festivals!) and signed to Japanese indie label MAGNETIC RECORDS in late 2008. Their debut LP was released with extra tracks in Japan in December 2008 and sold so well the band toured there in January 2009 to packed venues of teens in 3-D glasses.
